The meeting was held at the Boston Ballet to a "standing-room-only" crowd. The first item of business was a presentation l)y the Developers of Parcel RC6.(M.D. Properties). The BRA was represented by Randi Lathrop and there were other Cities Agencies also present. Mr. Domenech of M.D. Properties presented the updated plans for RC6 (the empty lot at Dwight and Shawmut). The initial plans had to he revised because the Developers were unable to proceed due to lack of funding. Their sources of financing found the original plans not viable because the cost of building under ground parking Weld the size of the building made the project too expensive. The revised plans called for a smaller building (4 stones as opposed to 5), above ground parking (as opposed to the under ground parking originally proposed); fewer units (reduced from 12 to if) and fewer units offered at affordable rates (reduced to 3 from 4). The actual design of the building will be essentially the same as the initial design. There were several questions posed to the developer mainly concerning the change in parking - there was concern about the visibility of the parking area we were assured that the proposed design would hide the parking as much as possible. The developer was also adamant that he now has adequate financing assured if the project is approved with the reduction in size and the above ground parking. The BRA also stated that they would do everything they could to speed the process since the project now has to go before several other City agencies before they can begin building. They thought if approvals were expedited, they could break ground by late Spring or early Summer. I here were 7 parking spaces proposed with an 8th spot possible - the Association strongly requested the 8th spot be a parking spot and that was agreed to. After the Developer and the BRA, et al. left., The Association discussed in depth the proposal. Some of the members who remembered the Developer's previous promises were skeptical that they would indeed be able to handle this project. She concerns were mainly because of the Developers lack of experience. We then drafted a letter to be sent to the BRA listing our concerns and only granting approval of the project with very specific reservation. We also had a visit from SGT. Guillano of the Boston Police to give us an up-date on crime in our area and see if we had any specific concerns. Essentially crime is down in our area and thankfully there wasn't anything significant to discuss with the Sergeant. In discussing parking, (or the lack thereof), we questioned if all of the handicap spaces are still needed by the residents - or if indeed some of the residents who initially needed the spaces had moved On. We were going to list the current spots and check with the Police to see if some of these spaces couldn't be freed Alp for general parking..
