Eight Streets Neighborhood Association

Meeting Minutes, 2 June 2004

Greeting & Introductions & Announcements:

The annual South End Garden Tour to benefit SELROST will be on 19 June. This is a highly recommended activity which benefits the entire community.

The next Postal Advisory meeting will be held Wednesday June 9. Eight streets membership had no complaints to bring up to the USPS.

Alliance of Boston Neighborhoods: Our delegate to ABN has recently relocated so we need to find a new one.

Licensing Issue - Picco (505 Tremont):

Mr. Richard Katz appeared to make a presentation on his proposed restaurant and to seek our support for his having a malt beverage/wine/cordials license and an outdoor seating permit. The restaurant, Picco, will be a casual establishment (focusing on pizza, sandwiches, desserts, etc.), open from 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM with indoor seating for 42 and an additional 24 seats outdoors seasonally (April to October); the outdoor seating is to be cleared by 11:00 PM; take-out will be available. Mr. Katz has extensive experience in the restaurant trade and has already signed a lease on the space and selected a firm to do the construction (estimated to begin mid-June), and hopes to be open by August.

The Eight Streets Membership voted to not oppose Mr. Katz being given the support he sought. A letter to this effect will be sent on 3 June.

Member Discussion: Members discussed and were updated on various on-going issues.
