March 2013 Eight Streets Neighborhood Association Meeting
Announcements
Dwight/Milford Alley
update – Mike Almond & Team
Michael gave us a short update on progress in the Waltham alley vis-ˆ-vis house numbering and lighting projects. Design is progressing on a gate design for the Tremont end of the alley. 25 of 34 rear entrances now have house numbers on them. There are plans for a test lighting set-up to be installed at 14 Milford.
Waltham Closure
permit – Barbara Anderson,
owner, B&G Oysters
Ms. Anderson brought forth a proposal to close Waltham Street for an afternoon for a private function.
Ms. AndersonÕs restaurant group has an annual fundraiser at B&G Oysters, which currently takes place in the B&G space (restaurant and courtyard) and on the sidewalk around B&G. She wishes to expand the event to include a tent in the street so the fundraiser can expand. Ms. Anderson gave details on her supported charity, as well as practical details of what the closure would entail and the logistics of the day.
After questions from attendees and discussion, ESNA voted to support the proposal to close Waltham for that afternoon. A Letter was sent to the city.
[[The city ended up turning down the application, citing the need for emergency vehicle access down Waltham street]]
Meeting adjourned. Next meeting Wednesday, April 3rd, at Boston Ballet
